The FoxSniffer feels like cheating. Just connect a directional antenna and set the frequency. Gain and attenuation are applied automatically - just turn your antenna and listen to the tone to find a bearing to the transmitter.
I designed the FoxSniffer to handle a wide range of radio direction finding tasks. The receiver is sensitive down to -120dBm while still handling strong signals with useful feedback. You can stand on top of a 5W fox and the FoxSniffer will still be able to tell you which direction to look. If you've ever been fox hunting with me you know I need that level of help - if I went looking for a real fox it would bite me long before I spotted it. Tech Specs:
- 100 to 225 and 275 to 450MHz frequency coverage - covers air band, amateur 2m and 70cm bands, and everything in between.
- Measures any transmission - AM, FM, it doesn't matter.
- Sensitive to -120dBm - hears foxes for miles.
- Handles up to 30dBm to help you in those last few feet to a well hidden fox.
- Up to 100 programmable memory channels.
- Quick A/B tuner toggle.
- Built-in configuration system - no external programming necessary.
- 5+ hour battery life.
- 8x2 character display for easy operation and programming.
- Fully open source hardware and software.
